Learn What Many Romantics Have Known for Centuries

When most people are asked to conjure up a romantic experience or fantasy it is not a surprise that the ambiance of the location of the event is very significant.  The location is key to creating the perfect mood and atmosphere. Within that romantic scene or fantasy often water is somehow involved in creating the perfect mood.  Whether it is a romantic stroll along a river bank, listening to the soothing lapping of the ocean waves on the shore or the cheerful sounds of a brook babbling through a mountain meadow, water plays an important role in our romantic experiences.

Think back to travel brochures you have seen or some of the most popular romantic getaway resorts.  They are usually surrounded by or incorporate the natural beauty of water.  How many times have you seen a picture of a couple having a romantic meal along the ocean coast or out on a beach?  Niagara Falls is not one of the top honeymoon spots by accident.

Water and Romance Go Hand in Hand

This is not just a new phenomena, as you look back into history water has been involved in creating a serene, sensual or romantic ambience.  Rome was famous for these water features as was ancient Japan for their peaceful garden which creatively incorporated water.  Many romance novels and stories have their roots in settings which incorporate the mystery moving water.

I am not confident of the reasons for the popularity and widespread connection of romance and water nor do I want to get over-analytical and philosophical with this but I do want to explore some practical ideas.  Water helps us connect with the natural world, it seems to have a unique lure.  It is soothing and relaxing and has a sense of wonder with it.  Most people enjoy watching the random form of a stream or waterfall and we all know how difficult it is to keep a child out of the puddles.  It connects with our 5 senses.

Remember a time when you may have entered an upscale resort, or restaurant.  Many of these facilities have used water falls and fountains to create a classy atmosphere.  Until approximately the new millennium these indoor wonders were not easily available to the average consumer, but within the last number of years things have definitely changed.  It has never been easier and more affordable to bring the romantic sights and sounds of moving water in your home.

Now let’s change gears and bring this back into a context of creating a romantic ambiance with interior water fountains.  These units bring the sights and sounds of moving water into our homes.  The calming effect that can be gained by sitting alone by the shore can be experienced sitting in your living room.  The sounds of listening to the water outside your seaside room on your weekend away can now be experienced in your own bedroom.  This the same classy feeling that is experienced in many high-end hotel lobbies can now be experienced in your living room.

Some wall water fountains incorporate slate and copper and unique lighting that can create a very elegant feel, while a smaller misting tabletop water fountain on the bedside table adds a very sense of mystery.  Lighting the candles with a table top fountain on the dresser can create the perfect ambiance and create dancing shadows and images on the walls and within the mirror.

Regardless of the reasons of the connection of water and romance, for most of us it is there and I want to encourage you to consider the potential power of incorporating an indoor fountain or two within your home.  The options are almost endless and there are models and options that can fit practically any budget and taste.  Give it a shot and I think you’ll soon agree that it is amazing what can happen when you simply add some water.
