Back in November of 2005 I had the privilege of visiting Disney World for the first time in Orlando, Florida. I was amazed at the entire experience and loved every second of it. (My wife and I are secretly planning a trip there ourselves without the kids; we had a blast!) I was especially taken in by a presentation at MGM entitled Fantasmic. The show incorporated acting, fire works, pyrotechnics and creative water movements done with water fountains. There was an island across a pond that the acting was performed on and then most of the water activity was done in the moat in front of the island. Anyway, I trust you get the picture. At several points they actually projected Disney video animation classics in a fountain mist in front of the island. It was spectacular. Something I have never seen or even dreamed possible.
Well, recently I discovered an entirely new indoor fountain related product that absolutely blew my mind and brought me back to that night. The product is created by Blu World USA, an industry leader in both residential and commercial fountains. They have created what they entitle the IAqua. Essentially it is watching video through a sheet of falling water. Imagine, watching video in a wall fountain! This technology is not only available for the big guys like Disney, but available for anyone.
IAqua has no distortion in the image quality despite the fact that it is displayed in a constant flow of water. Blu World describes it as the “moving video image seems to hover in a stream of falling water.” How cool is that! I know the guy next door doesn’t have that! They claim it can be built to practically any scale from the massive Jumbotron to a small counter top unit.
Technology has come a long way and who knows what they will come up next!
